It’s been a really exciting week at Clearbox for our Amazon team as they helped announce the launch of Alexa and Echo in Ireland.
Following the announcement, customers in Ireland can now get the Alexa experience available in the United Kingdom on the all-new Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Echo Plus, with skills from local developers including RTÉ News, Ryanair, Irish Radioplayer, Dublin’s FM104, and more.
In addition to the announcement of Alexa and Echo, Amazon also brought Amazon Music Unlimited to Ireland for the first time, which means customers can stream a catalogue of more than 40 million songs, including a wide-selection of hand-curated playlists and personalised stations. Using just their voice, customers can search for music by artist, album, track or genre, and control volume and playback by saying “Alexa, turn it up”, or “Alexa, skip this song” If you aren’t sure who an artist is, just say “Alexa, which song is this?”
The exciting news was incredibly well received by the Irish media, with our Amazon team securing coverage in virtually all national newspapers, the country’s biggest-hitting technology sites, radio stations and on RTE. Alexa and Echo’s availability on these shores also created a real buzz in social media circles.
We’re hugely proud to work on such an important campaign and we’re excited to continue working with the Amazon devices team over the coming months to show Alexa and Echo off to Irish media and customers.
