Our very own coffee connoisseur, Ciara Fanning, has spoken with some of the Clearbox team to create a list of must-try coffee spots in Northern Ireland... thank you, Ciara - that's our plans sorted for the weekend! Take it away...

It is no shock that we are coffee fans, with Amy, Lauren and I playing barista every morning with the office coffee machine, proudly sharing our poor attempts at latte art when they look half decent. That being said, it’s best we leave it to the professionals. I have put together some of the team’s favourite places to grab a cup of coffee, relax and stuff our faces.

Starting off strong with a fan favourite, Neighbourhood Café. Lauren sums up this Cathedral Quarter gem perfectly, “Immaculate vibes. The Turkish eggs are incredible, the service is always top notch and, in my opinion, they serve the best flat white in Belfast” (I’d trust her, she’s a professional flat white critic). Living up to their slogan, “making your day”, with the friendly faces making your drinks and the tasty coffee. As you step through the door, you’re greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and friendly smiles of staff and regulars alike. Neighbourhood is no secret with people travelling far and wide taste its delicious menu. Some of the best staff in Belfast, never failing to put a smile on everyone faces, have a chat and happy to help. With its laid-back ambiance, delicious food, and genuine sense of community, Neighbourhood café has become a beloved fixture in the bustling landscape of Belfast. Neighbourhood café has been the epicentre of some of my fondest memories over the past two years. What a place, thanks Oisin and team!

Heading up North now as Amy makes us all very jealous with the sea views and more importantly Lost & Found on her doorstep. Lost & Found is a treasure trove of culinary delights and coastal charm. In her expert words, “Lost & Found deems itself ‘Home on the Coast’, and that’s exactly what it feels like to me. Even before Jonny and I moved to Portstewart and the staff became our sourdough dealers, Lost & Found was our haven. You’re guaranteed a welcoming smile, a great chat, and exceptional coffee, no matter what you order. There’s an uninterrupted view of the Atlantic from any seat, and normally a few dogs knocking around on the coastal path outside. The brand’s values resonate strongly with me, too. I just love it. Long live the Lost & Found brunch brioche.” Tucked away in the picturesque seaside town, the café exudes an inviting atmosphere that feels like stumbling upon a hidden gem.

Dog mum Magee loves a coffee and a sweet treat on her walks… don’t we all, why else would we go? Where else better for this combo than Coop? Located in three Belfast parks, Drumbeg, Botanic, and Ormeau, it makes for the perfect excuse to get out and walk your four-legged friends. “The girls are SO lovely, great coffee and snack selection and Daisy always gets a biscuit too”, what more could you ask for? Well, Ella, do tell; “Plus the Drumbeg one always runs nice community events like little markets where you can find some gems.” Coop has it all. Nestled in the scenic surroundings of some of the cities most beloved green spaces. Not only a place to grab a drink; it’s a haven for coffee aficionados and nature enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re enjoying your favourite brew on the cafes outdoor terrace, surrounded by the tranquillity of the park, or catching up with friends over a cup of freshly roasted coffee, Coop offers an experience that nourishes both the soul and the senses.

The Coffee scene in Northern Ireland is vibrant, diverse, and constantly evolving, and we love it. Beyond just coffee, these establishments often offer a sense of community, hosting events and fostering connections among patrons. Our favourite coffee spots have become an extension of our homes, and with the added advantage of having my coffee handed to me!
