This summer, we’ve been helping the team at Sony Mobile Ireland captivate senses and entertain crowds across Ireland with the latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ2.
Following a successful launch in April, Sony wanted to give consumers in Ireland the chance to get hands-on with the phone and see for themselves how the XZ2 combines the best of Sony audio, TV, sound and gaming technology to create the ultimate entertainment experience.
And where better to entertain crowds than at a festival? So we hit the road to get involved in two brilliant ones.
TASTE OF DUBLIN
A foodie experience like no other, the Food Lovers Playground-themed festival brought the best in cuisine and dining to the heart of Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens from 14th-17th June.
As a proud platinum partner, Sony Xperia had the opportunity to showcase the XZ2 in the luxe surroundings of the Laurent-Perrier VIP Lounge in association with Sony Xperia.
Over the four days, the lounge welcomed festival-goers, Sony Mobile customers, Irish media and competition winners. In addition, Sony hosted an exclusive area within the lounge, complete with an interactive and immersive display of XZ2 devices.
While they were chilling out guests could try their hand at the Drive Club lap challenge, competing to get the fastest lap time using the XZ2 as a handheld screen. Whoever topped the leaderboard every hour won a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-QX10 Smartphone Lens. Everyone involved had a laugh, and winners took to social media to show off their prizes.
From food to floral crowns, Groove Festival was the next stop for the Sony team. This year Groove took place in Killruddery House and Gardens, bringing two days of music, food and family fun to Bray, Co. Wicklow.
Refusing to be outdone by the headline acts on the main stage, the Sony Xperia Stage hosted enough talent to rival some of the big names, such as Jerry Fish, REWS and The Eskies.
Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia Activation Tent was bustling with festival-goers trying to bag themselves a prize. Crowds returned on the hour to beat their high score and, more importantly, beat their mates. The activation provided the perfect opportunity for consumers to experience first-hand the endless possibilities with the XZ2.
It was a scorcher, and the heatwave meant the shaded Sony VIP Lounge was one of the coolest spots at the festival, literally. Media and Sony guests came to hang out, have a beer, and listen to some live music.
Two festivals, 800 pairs of Sony sunglasses, 58 competition winners and a ton of SPF later, and it was all over for another year.
