Happy Friday - it's August already - can you believe it? Here are this week's observations from the media world, for your reading pleasure…Before we kick off, we'd just like to tell you that we've been shortlisted for a CIPR Pride Award for our work with Malone Lodge. We hosted a special blogger pyjama party for the hotel - for a behind the scenes look at what went on, have a look over here.We don't know about you, but we love Back to the Future. It's one of our favourite movie trilogies - especially Back to the Future 2, with the flying cars, hover boards and Nike Air Mags (power laces!)Anyway, the cult 80's favourite is the latest film to be given the Secret Cinema treatment in London's East End. After cancelling the £55-a-ticket first night and the opening weekend performances (some cancellations coming an hour before showtime), Secret Cinema had a tidal wave of negativity to deal with on social media - rightly so, some would argue. One week on, the company has successfully opened the show to rave reviews and lots of positive comments on social networks. Well done, Secret Cinema.Local football in Northern Ireland received a big boost this week when the Football League signed up TrackChamp to stream over 250 games a season over the internet. The good news is fans across the world will now be able to watch their favourite local side; the bad news is that the agreement also comes with data tracking and analysis of players that the clubs can use. No more hiding on the pitch, lads. While most of us celebrated pay day this week, spare a thought for the thousands of civil servants in Ireland who missed out on their salaries because of a technical glitch from the Bank of Ireland. Dublin 4 bar Sober Lane, famed for accepting job applications via Snapchat, stepped in to capitalise on the mistake by offering all civil servants buy one get one free drinks. Thankfully, the issue was sorted quickly and everyone has now been paid. Hope you all enjoyed your free beer too! That's it for this week, ladies and gents. Have a great weekend.
