Blaise has officially been with us for just over a month now, so we thought it was about time you got to know her a bit better... take it away, Blaise!
Hey everyone!
I’m Blaise and I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Clearbox team.
I recently graduated from Ulster University where I studied BSc Communication, Advertising and Marketing and I have just over 18 months industry experience in the world of advertising and communications. Truthfully, when the UCAS deadline was looming a few years back, my head was scrambled with all the possible career paths out there! I was always Blaise, school student. What was my new title going to be?
I finally landed on studying CAM. The variety of modules were really interesting, and I had the opportunity to hone my skills in creativity, critical thinking and research. During my degree, I completed a year-long industry placement which catapulted me into the exciting world of PR and my interest in the communications and creative industries has been ignited ever since. Now the UCAS stress seems like a distant memory.
Plus, from a young age, I always had my head buried in a good book and my love of reading has definitely contributed to my passion for storytelling and PR. I even used to run a Bookstagram account and little me (excuse the pun) had a Little Mix fan page, but I’ll just put that account down as early social media training.
Outside of my professional and academic life, I spend my time socialising with family and friends, watching a good box set and I have recently started climbing. Growing up in the countryside of picturesque Co. Fermanagh, I adore being around nature, spending time outdoors and at the beach. Since I was fourteen, I have spent my summers attending or working at summer camps and residentials, participating in activities like kayaking, gorge walking and bivvying alone in a forest (don’t recommend).
I also love the hustle and bustle of city life and having a range of food outlets, entertainment centres and shops only a short distance away is a dream. However, I think a part of me must be longing for my country roots as I am slowly turning into a country music fan… well that said, American country, as Zac Bryan seems to have my Spotify account in a chokehold. Although, this adds to my eclectic music taste, I still need some convincing to ever start belting out Wagon Wheel.
My biggest passion is travel and I am extremely fortunate to have already visited 16 countries. I feel like nothing beats the feeling of coming off a plane or a bus if you ever ‘interbus’ around Europe (highly recommend), knowing the next few days or weeks will be filled with great plot building experiences, even if that is simply relaxing in the sun with a Fanta Lemon.
I believe travel brings so many benefits and is a fantastic way to learn new cultures, increase empathy and improve creativity, all of which will help me in my new role. In Summer 2022, I had the opportunity to combine my passion for travel, outdoor activities and adventure through being a Camp Counsellor in California. From swimming in the Pacific Ocean, isolating in a covid cabin to strolling down the Las Vegas Strip. It really was a summer to remember.
I was drawn to Clearbox for their amazing culture, their fantastic client portfolio and the opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the best in their industry. I can’t wait to be involved in so many exciting campaigns and see everything that my life at Clearbox has in store.
