When Ring asked us to help launch the ‘NeighbourGood Café Tour’ across the UK in partnership with Crimestoppers, we jumped straight on it. A meaningful community campaign, a brilliant partnership and the chance to get neighbours talking? That’s right up our street. Pun intended. 

The brief

Our mission was to launch the Ring NeighbourGood Café Tour – a collaboration with independent charity Crimestoppers – across the UK. The tour transforms local cafés into community hubs, bringing neighbours together over free coffee to talk about safety, share their experiences and discover how smart home technology and strong community ties can work hand in hand. Clearbox’s job was to create the first round of events in Leeds, Birmingham and Bolton, drive footfall to each event, land regional press coverage, recruit local influencers and ensure Ring’s message reached the right people in the right places. 

The tour

The NeighbourGood Café Tour is a simple premise with a lot of heart. Pull up a chair, grab a free beverage and get to know your neighbours. At each stop, locals have the chance to meet Ring and Crimestoppers representatives, hear from Ring’s ‘Community Champions’, share their own stories from living in the area, and learn about how anonymous tip-offs and smart security cameras can make a real difference on their street.

The first stop in March was Leeds, where the café opened its doors at North Star Coffee Shop on the Boulevard. From there, the tour rolled on to Birmingham and Bolton, with more locations (Greater Manchester, Glasgow and Cardiff) still to come throughout 2026.

The campaign is anchored in research with resonance: data shows that three quarters of people in the UK feel safer on streets where neighbours know and regularly communicate with one another. 

The story that started it all

Of course every good campaign has a great story at its centre, and the NeighbourGood Café Tour has David Collins. After retiring and moving to a new property in Huddersfield, David bought four Ring cameras after spotting a deal online. Late one night, his cameras picked up three intruders coming through the hedge from a neighbouring property. The footage was so clear that one intruder pointed directly at a camera, giving police everything they needed. All three were caught and prosecuted within six weeks.

This experience lit a spark. David went on to set up a Neighbourhood Watch group, his neighbours started getting cameras, and membership quickly grew to over 250 people. Ring named David as its first Community Champion, and he attended the Leeds launch to share his story with fellow locals.

What we loved about this campaign

This project worked because it was genuinely community-led. We weren’t asking journalists or influencers to manufacture enthusiasm for a product launch. We were inviting them to experience and cover something real. David’s story gave every piece of coverage an emotional core, and the Crimestoppers partnership gave the campaign credibility that went beyond a brand activation.

The Facebook community group strategy was a good move too. 23 organic posts across local groups meant the campaign reached exactly the audience it was designed for: people who already care about their neighbourhood and are actively looking for ways to get more involved.
