Dia duit!

My name is Bláithín, and I have recently joined Clearbox as a Junior Account Executive.

I’m 26 years old, an Aries (the best sign, obviously), and I come from a tiny coastal town in the heart of the Mourne Mountains – one of those places you don’t truly learn to appreciate the beauty of until you grow up.

In my spare time, I’m usually hanging out with my friends, doing anything from doomscrolling Reels together to joining them at a dentist appointment. I’ll never say no to a side quest with my mates. Prime example: I recently went to a training session for the ladies’ senior Gaelic team in my hometown. I’d never touched a Gaelic ball before, so let’s just say it was a bit of a humiliation ritual… I won’t be back. But I think saying yes to new experiences is the spice of life, so hey-ho.

If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m a cat person with a savoury tooth and a love for rom-coms and all things pop culture. I’m a huge fan of a cold pint, a game of pool and an old-school pub quiz and will usually pass with flying colours if the questions are music or film-related (re: my love for pop culture).

I’m the kind of person who loves all types of music, from 1970s rock to 1990s techno to 2020s pop girlies- I don’t discriminate! But if I had to narrow it down, my favourite artists right now are Fontaines D.C. and Leonard Cohen, with a touch of Olivia Rodrigo’s new album. When I say ‘a touch’, I really mean played to death this summer.

Funnily enough, my love for rom-coms actually played a pretty big part in me getting the job at Clearbox. When I was applying for the role, I was tasked with writing the story of my life so far in the style of my favourite TV or film character. Naturally, I went for Cher from my favourite ’90s rom-com, Clueless, utilising her signature Valley Girl accent and OTT ’90s lingo to do so. I mean, the thought of doing it in the style of anyone but her? As if!

This task was an immediate green flag for me when applying. I really loved that Clearbox gave potential candidates the opportunity to showcase their creativity as part of the hiring process, rather than simply rhyming off achievements and grades. It really highlighted to me that they valued creativity and originality, which are obviously cornerstones of PR. It made me want the job even more!

In 2021, I graduated from Queen’s University with an undergraduate degree in Psychology. While I really enjoyed the degree, I soon realised it wasn’t quite what I wanted to pursue. So, after a three-year educational hiatus, I returned to university in 2024 to complete a master’s degree in something I was much more passionate about- Public Relations. In December 2025, I graduated from Ulster University with a master’s degree in PR and Communication.

I had always had my sights set on working at Clearbox, even before starting my degree. I was first introduced to Clearbox on Instagram and, after a quick stalk, I said to myself, ‘That looks like the kind of place I’d love to work someday!’

The fun and quirky vibes, along with the company values, are what really stood out to me. So, you can imagine my surprise (and excitement!) when I got the news that I’d got the job- four years after first coming across Clearbox and thinking it was somewhere I’d love to work, and as the first job I applied for after university!

My first week at Clearbox has been fantastic. In addition to the wonderful and supportive team, the aesthetically amazing office space (and, of course, the free fizzy drinks!), the refreshing culture and values at Clearbox are exactly what I was hoping to find in a PR job.

I’m so excited for what the future holds at Clearbox!
